Sotavento / Risco del Paso — South Fuerteventura
The flagship spot of Fuerteventura: a roughly 4 km tidal flat-water lagoon behind a sandbank, fed mainly around full- and new-moon high tides (René Egli publishes a lagoon timetable). Cross-offshore NE trade accelerated by the Jandía hills, with butter-flat lagoon for all levels and chop, freeride and a wave zone on the outside. Sandy bottom, no rocks or reef.

Rules: René Egli holds the official exclusive teaching licence for the whole lagoon. The kite zone is kept separate (to the left of the wave zone) from windsurfing, with a lagoon shuttle for kiters; the separation is locally enforced.
Caution: In strong wind the cross-/offshore direction drifts you toward the open sea, so staying upwind and having safety cover matters. Otherwise the sandy bottom is forgiving. It can get busy.
