Alghero / Maria Pia — West Sardinia
Alghero town beach. Windsurf in Mistral.
Wind: 8–22 kn · NW, W, SE — Sports: windsurf, kite, SUP — Level: beginner — On site: school, rental, food, WC
Water: Long (~1200m), wide bay with flat-to-light-chop water; comparatively sheltered/'rarely affected by wind' versus the area's wave spots (Porto Ferro, Poglina).
Launch: Ocean Tribe Watersport is based at Camping La Mariposa, between the equipped Lido beach and the Maria Pia pine forest — rig/launch from this stretch. Large town beach gives plenty of rigging space. In high season kiters relocate to the informal kite area at San Giovanni beach (~5 min away) to avoid conflict with bathers.
Rules: Long town beach (Lido) with room to manoeuvre, suitable for beginners; in summer kiting is moved to the dedicated kite zone/corridor at San Giovanni beach a few minutes away.
Caution: Open town beach, low-hazard for beginners; busy with bathers and gusty close to town in summer.
