Punta Trettu — South Sardinia
THE beginner flatwater spot of Europe. Knee-deep flatwater, sandy, very consistent.
Wind: 12–40 kn · NW, W, SE — Sports: kite, windsurf, wing, SUP — Level: beginner — On site: school, rental, food, WC, camping
Water: Shallow, flat lagoon water essentially everywhere near the point; no chop of note inside the sheltered zone.
Launch: Launch/land only on the sandy spit ('Punta Trettu Kite Beach') itself, further out on the sandbank, away from trees/people — never at the parking/marina beach. The usable water is split by a natural shallow sandbank into two zones, identified standing with your back to the NW: LEFT (SE side of the reference buoy) = riding/departure zone for independent riders; RIGHT (NW side, close to the beach) = teaching zone for beginner courses only.
Rules: Kite launch only at Punta Trettu Kite Beach (two zones, one school-only) — not at the parking/marina. Riding outside the zones is fined.
Caution: Very shallow — easy to stand, low-hazard. Gusty in strong Mistral.
