Water: Large, current-free lagoon (protected by a Roman-era causeway to the mainland and by the offshore island of San Pietro/Carloforte); flat and shallow near shore, building to ~1 m chop in the middle of the 2.5 km-wide, ~7 km-long lagoon under strong wind — ideal for jump/freestyle practice.
Launch: Windsurfing Club Sa Barra (run by Gigi Maddedu), at the northern tip of the lagoon — paid car park directly at the surf station, access road too narrow for oversized motorhomes. A second, calmer/lighter-wind flat-water center exists further south/west at Spiaggia Grande.
Rules: Sa Barra is a windsurf-reserved flatwater lagoon by local agreement — kiters stay north of Punta Trettu. Best in NW (local thermals make it far windier than forecast) and sideshore Scirocco; reckoned good for windsurfing some 250 days a year.
Caution: Very low-hazard: flat, shallow lagoon with a causeway downwind preventing drift; watch for fishing lines.
